Draw conclusions about these characters and their feelings, beliefs, morals, values, attitudes, demeanor, motivations, desires, vices/flaws, and fears. Find support in the text based on what the character say and do. Students will put on the hat of psychologist and analyze these characters. Remember that authors careful "pack" these character to be complex. It is the role of the reader to "unpack" these characters and make discovers about them. Be original in your analysis!

Students must find 3 quotes/passages per ACT (1-4) to prove that jealousy, ego, or conformity is the root cause that Arthur Miller is pointing to in The Crucible. Essentially students must find supporting evidence for their thesis. Students are to use the distributed handout to record and explain each quote (explain how the quote shows the root cause).
2. Quick Lesson on Active/Passive Voice. Students will want to eliminate passive voice from their writing. Passive voice is where the order of the subject and the object are flipped and the writer places the object first, which grammatically incorrect. Place subject first and use Active Voice.

4. Students use the Hemingway Editor to revise their introductions.
5. Students create a document for their essay and type their introductions.
